When thinking about Bali, I think about superfood bowls, healthy wraps, avocado toasts and, of course, coconut!
In the last few years, Bali’s become one of the most interesting dining destination made of street food, alternative cafes and high-end restaurants offering any kind of organic, vegan and vegetarian food and, of course, Bintang Beer!
In our time there, we tried several cafes and restaurants and here you find my best spots, I strongly recommend you to try them, if you happen to be there!
- Peloton Cafe – Jalan Pantai Berawa Nr. 46, Canggu
My absolute favourite cafe in Canggu is definitely Peloton: this nice vegan cafe/bike store offers plenty of vegan dishes and perfect instagram pics 🙂 The menu is really for every taste and the juices and superfood shots are the best!
2. Milk & Madu – Jalan Pantai Berawa nr.52, Canguu
My second favourite cafe for breakfast & lunch! We went there many times ’cause everything there is just awesome, from the smoothies and wraps to avocado toast and pancakes! The bowls are delicious as well, and the choice is huge also thanks to the Nadu Bowls Cafe (more on Nr. 3).
3. Nadu Bowls Cafe – Jalan Pantai Berawa nr.52, Canguu
Next to Milk & Madu, they have the best bowls ever!! My favourites? “Mavericks”, the perfect acai bowl with granola, berries and coconut flakes and the “Uluwatu” with dragon fruit (oooh, I love this fruit – too bad I can’t find it in Germany!), banana and raspberries.
4. Satu Satu Cafe – Jalan Pantai Berawa Nr. 31, Canguu
Well known for their fresh coffee brewed by the family for many years, it offers really good bowls, pancakes and avocado toast as well as Indonesian food and the atmosphere is really cosy and modern.
5. Nüde – Jalan Pantai Berawa, Canggu
It’s pretty new in the food scene of Canggu and it offers delicious cashew pancakes with salted caramel sauce or with strawberry sauce as well as burgers with carrot bread and wraps. A modern and stylish atmosphere completes this nice cafe.
6. Petit Gourmet – Jalan Pantai Berawa, Canguu
Located in front of Nüde, it is also pretty new in the area. It serves an all day breakfast menu and the opportunity to create your own salads and sandwiches. They also have plenty of fresh juices, organic coffees and the cutest and cosiest design!
But in Bali I didn’t only have breakfast and lunch, but also dinner! 🙂 So here are also few of my favourite spots.
- The Savage Kitchen
We went there several times and every time it was just awesome! You can create your own salad adding different toppings, or pick up something from the menu, in any case we will love all dishes made with local and fresh ingredients and a lot of creativity!
2. Macan Cafe – Jalan Pantai Berawa, Canggu
If I would have discovered this cafe/restaurant before, I would have gone there more often! The menu offers the best carpaccio and tartar together with the tastiest finger food and pasta – all at a reasonable place compared to the average of Canggu. My favourite? The coconut prawns with mango sauce and their red rice!
3. La Laguna – Jalan Pantai Kayu Putih, Berawa – Canggu
On our last night in Bali, we spoiled ourself with a romantic dinner @ La Laguna. The location in the middle of the nature, surrounded by palm trees, offers probably the most beautiful sunset of Canggu. The restaurant has a great menu and delicious cocktails, but the prices are definitely higher than all other restaurants we’ve been to. Totally deserves a visit though!
Last but not least, I strongly recommend you to try the many tiny warungs and street markets, where you can try the best nasi goreng (fried rice), mie goreng (fried noodles) and satay chicken! In the area of Canggu and Seminyak there are plenty of them and we had snacks and dinner many times there. They are probably not the most “Instagrammable” spots but the food is absolutely delicious, made with love and served with a big smile by the families running those little businesses.
I hope you enjoy reading my post and let me know what you think!
